Sapperton Rovers

Stadium

Home to the Sapperton Rovers FC of the Vancouver Metro Soccer League, Queen's Park Stadium is a 2,000 seat soccer venue located in the beautiful Queen's Park.

1929 Queen's Park Stadium was built. Initially, it started as a field area with a ¼ mile track with a 100 yard track added in 1931.

1948 First field lights installed.

1950 The main section of the Stadium was built which are the present day concrete stands.

1970 The track was removed and sodded over. This gave us our present day soccer field.

2005 The soil based grass field was replaced with a sand based grass for year- round usage.

The current stadium is located where the New Westminster Rovers used to play their games around 1905-1910, although the stadium itself did not exist then.

In 2005 Sapperton Rovesr wrote to the City Council and appeared before the City Parks and Recreation Committee to ask for a sign at the Stadium declaring it to be the home of the Rovers. In 2008, Sapperton Rovers paid for a sign and it was installed on the Stadium. Following on Sappertons efforts, other sports groups soon added their names to the sign.
